Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH.
Leica Vario-Elmarit-SL 24-70mm f/2.8 ASPH. is a full-frame L-mount standard zoom with a constant f/2.8 aperture. It sits below Leica’s larger 24-90mm SL zoom as a lighter, more compact everyday option, aimed at photographers who want a fast do-it-all lens for travel, events and general work without moving to primes for every job. Autofocus is supported and the lens is weather sealed, making it a sensible match for the SL system’s professional body sealing. Optical stabilisation is not built in, so it relies on body-based stabilisation where available. The 82 mm filter thread and relatively modest 572 g weight make it easier to carry than many comparable full-frame 24-70mm f/2.8 designs. Close-focusing is one of its practical strengths, especially at the wide end, which helps for detail shots and flexible framing. On the used market, check the L-mount contacts and mount for wear, confirm smooth zoom and focus action, test autofocus accuracy across the range, and inspect the front and rear elements for haze, fungus, scratches or cleaning marks. Also make sure the weather sealing and aperture operation are intact, and that any included hood locks securely.
