The Contax RX is a high-end 35mm SLR designed for the C/Y mount system. It is distinctive for its Digital Focus Indicator (DFI), an electronic rangefinder system that assists with manual focusing through a display in the viewfinder. The camera features a rugged metal chassis, a quiet shutter mechanism with speeds up to 1/4000s, and a high-quality vertical-travel shutter.
When purchasing a used RX, the 'mirror slip' issue is a known fault where the mirror adhesive weakens, causing the glass to migrate downwards; SDS checks this alignment carefully. We also verify the accuracy of the DFI system and the condition of the LCD displays, which can occasionally suffer from bleed. The film transport and shutter timing are also tested.
