Canon Sprint
A mid-80s compact 35mm film camera with a 35mm f/3.5 lens.
The Canon Sprint (also known as the AF35J) is a compact 35mm camera released in the mid-1980s. It features a 35mm f/3.5 lens and an early active autofocus system. A sliding lens cover protects the optics when not in use, and the camera includes a built-in flash that must be manually activated via a switch. It is a robustly built example of early automated compacts.
Examine the battery compartment for corrosion and ensure the autofocus confirmation light in the viewfinder works correctly. The lens cover mechanism can sometimes become stiff and should be tested for smooth operation. SDS inspects the clarity of the lens and the accuracy of the film transport. The light seals on these models may require replacement if they have perished over time.
