Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III USM
Canon EF 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 III USM is a full-frame standard zoom with autofocus and USM drive. It was positioned as a lightweight general-purpose lens for Canon EF film and early digital bodies, offering a practical 28mm wide end rather than an ultra-compact kit-style starting point. Optically it is a modest consumer zoom, so it is best suited to everyday shooting, travel and casual portraits rather than critical work wide open. Handling is straightforward: the lens is small, light and easy to carry, with a simple zoom ring and internal focusing autofocus motor that makes operation quieter than basic screw-drive designs. Expect the usual variable maximum aperture and a close-focus distance that is adequate for general use but not macro work. On used examples, check that autofocus runs smoothly and quietly, the zoom action is not stiff or sloppy, the front and rear elements are clean, and there is no haze, fungus or excessive dust. Also inspect the filter thread for damage and the mount for wear from frequent body swaps.
