Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM
Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM is a full-frame macro lens with a 180mm focal length and f/3.5 maximum aperture. It was designed for Canon EF bodies and gives a much longer working distance than 50mm or 100mm macros, which makes it especially useful for shy subjects, lighting setups, and avoiding shadowing at close range. The USM autofocus is quick for a macro lens, but like most long macros it is often used manually for critical close-up work. Optically, it is a high-end L-series lens with strong sharpness and pleasing subject separation, and it also doubles as an excellent short telephoto for portraits and detail work. It is a large, heavy lens and is best handled with support, especially when working near minimum focus. On the used market, check autofocus smoothness, aperture blade response, front and rear glass for scratches or haze, internal fungus, and the condition of the filter threads, mount, and tripod collar.
