The original Canonet, released in 1961, was the first in a highly successful line of 35mm rangefinder cameras. It features a fixed 45mm f/1.9 lens and a selenium light meter positioned around the lens, providing shutter-priority auto-exposure. A notable feature is the film advance lever located on the bottom of the camera body, a design choice intended to keep the top plate uncluttered.
