Our History

After Andrew's first camera broke as a teenager and with limited access to repair stores, he decided to take it apart and attempt to repair it himself. It was a success and an idea was born, he bought another broken camera and decided to give it a full service and get it back to working order, before selling it on.

2021

Come 2021, SDS was established, originally named Standard Def Sales. Marketed towards providing cameras to the niche industry of skateboard filmmakers.

We slowly broadened our customer base, eventually selling photo and video equipment to creators of all kinds.

As more and more cameras came through our store we realised a serious problem, a huge portion of cameras we bought as working on eBay would arrive broken, untested, missing accessories, or just dirty! It was an experience we knew needed improving.

2022

Late 2022, Andrew started University to study Film and Television practice in London. He moved the business to London eventually opening our first office and meeting some great friends who would later become key members of the SDS team.

2025

In 2025 we rebranded to SDS, and introduced our all new platform SDS.NET, a place to buy, sell, trade camera gear of all kinds. All our equipment is individually photographed, expertly tested, and includes a warranty so you know exactly what you're getting and there's no surprises!

Going forward we are determined to provide the best platform in the UK to buy and sell Cameras, Lenses, and Accessories.
